We are looking for a

Quantum Software Developer

Come join Quanscient Quantum Labs, we have cookies! We are looking for a developer to take our quantum software stack to new heights: could it be you?

Role
Quantum Software Developer

As a quantum software developer, you will work in close collaboration with our tight-knit quantum team. You will be instrumental in transforming world-class quantum research into a viable product in collaboration with our experts in quantum algorithms and computational cloud infrastructure.

First and foremost, we are looking for someone with hands-on experience in software development, whether that be in quantum or classical computing. We value a holistic picture on software architecture and development cycles over expertise in programming details. Prior quantum computing experience is not required.

We expect you to be able to study and implement relevant state-of-the-art algorithms independently, complementing our main activity on multiphysics simulations. While your daily work will mainly be software engineering, there is also ample opportunity to participate in scientific research and push the boundaries of quantum computing.

As a team, we value

even-scale
Work-life balance

Building a successful startup is hectic. But life can’t be all about work and when working, it should be fun. We value a cheerful environment and the possibility for our people to live a full life outside work, too.

point-right
Pragmatic approach

Sometimes you need to swim shallow and sometimes you need to dive deep to get stuff done. We want our people to recognize when is the time to do which.

handshake-hand-gesture
Commitment

We must have clearly defined goals and a plan to reach them. These goals must get our people but also our customers and partners excited about the outcomes.

heart on hand
Trust & compassion

Humans make mistakes. Having a trusting relationship with your colleagues creates a culture of compassion, where we are able to learn from each other and improve in our work.

We value

Work-life balance. Life is too short to be stuck in the office all the time. We strive to have a relaxed environment and support our people to live a full life outside work. For example, you can take a couple of working hours each week off just for your own well-being.

Trust & compassion. Humans make mistakes, and it’s essential when building new things. Having a trusting and supportive relationship with your colleagues creates a culture of compassion, where we are able to learn from each other and improve in our work.

Constructive teamwork. Help others and yourself to grow and learn, and have a good time while doing so. In our team you will not be working in isolation, but in true collaboration.

Balance in priorities. We often need to balance between immediate software production and far-reaching scientific research. We nurture a creative atmosphere while having clearly defined goals and business focus. For example, you could be concurrently contributing to a research article and benchmarking a concrete algorithm implementation on an actual quantum computer.

What you would do at Quanscient

Design, develop, and maintain our quantum software library in collaboration with the algorithm team.

Integrate quantum algorithms into our cloud-based simulation platform.

Applied and fundamental research on developing quantum algorithms for solving multiphysics problems, or more generic algorithms supporting this main goal.

Test quantum algorithms on simulators and real quantum hardware.

What we expect from you

The essentials:

Practical experience in creating software products: designing, developing and maintaining algorithm libraries, and understanding of software development life cycle.

Demonstrated programming skills, a good command of programming languages such as C++ and Python, and experience with development tools like Git.

Ability to independently study and experiment with algorithms relevant to quantum computing.
…but prior experience in quantum computing is not a necessity.

The nice-to-haves:

Ph.D. or M.Sc. in a relevant field such as software engineering, computer science, physics, or mathematics.
However, it is not about the degree you have, but who you are and what you can do…

Experience in multiphysics simulations or scientific computing and related mathematics.

What you get

The starting salary is negotiable, but depending on your experience and skills, typically between 4000 € - 5500 € per month.

We can also offer ownership in the company in stock options.

Other benefits include:
  • Flexible working hours
  • Option for remote work
  • 2 hours of well-being time per week
  • Comprehensive healthcare plan
  • Top-of-the-line working equipment
  • Yearly company retreats in awesome locations

We are also happy to support you to relocate to Finland if necessary.

We will proceed with the recruitment as soon as we find a good candidate. We are fast in our decision-making, so please let us know if interested.

About Quanscient

Quanscient is a deep-tech startup, founded in 2021 and based in Tampere, Finland.
Our cloud-based physics simulation software, Quanscient Allsolve, helps technology companies and research organizations simulate product designs faster, more accurately, and at a larger scale.

We help our customers develop technologies that benefit everyone, from safer cars and faster computers to better medical devices, and want you on board to help us help them. A big part of this lies in figuring out how to bring quantum computers into real industrial use. With us, you will be building the future of simulations.
