New Simulation Software Soming Soon | Quanscient

Written by Juha Riippi | Jun 13, 2022 7:55:00 AM
In our latest blog, we painted a picture of what the future of simulations could look like in the era of quantum computing.

Our vision is indeed to transform how products are designed and tested by enabling a completely digital design process — replacing physical prototypes with simulations of digital twins.

In this blog article, we go over what is achievable now, and why you, as an engineer, scientist, or product designer should care.

Before we go any further, let's rewind just a little bit to see where we have come from and why.

In the beginning

Before Quanscient got started, we saw a glaring deficiency in the performance of simulation platforms.

In fact, our CTO, Dr. Alexandre Halbach, had already been solving this problem for eight years by developing a performant and modern set of algorithms.

But an algorithm library, no matter how advanced, is not a product and therefore remains inaccessible for most due to the steep learning curve and purely code-based access.

With Alexandre’s expertise combined with our other co-founders’ Dr. Valtteri Lahtinen’s quantum expertise, Asser Lähdemäki’s cloud development skills, and my background in the software business, we knew we had the perfect combination of skills to create a new simulation service.

Indeed, everything was set to create a revolutionary simulation platform that will truly take advantage of cloud scaling to speed up the solutions and make them more accurate.

We founded Quanscient in the September of 2021 and have since grown the team to 13 awesome professionals, with the first version of the product soon ready to be launched.

Why should you care about any of this?

As an engineer and innovator, your job is to create innovative new products.

Our job is to make it as efficient as possible for you.

Our system is already proven to provide hundreds of times speedups in many applications due to the parallel cloud scaling we provide.

As you can imagine, this has a massive effect, effectively reducing the computation time from days to minutes; from waiting for results over the weekend to a mere coffee break.

In addition, we make it possible for you to run simulations at an unforeseen scale. We have already solved problems with at least 40 million unknowns using 380 CPU cores in 8 minutes.

This, however, is just the beginning, as the billion-unknown milestone is staring right ahead.

First truly native multiphysics — what does it mean?

In nature, there is no multiphysics. There is just physics.

We have built our algorithms to match this.

With Quanscient’s platform, computational electromagnetics, fluid dynamics, and mechanics are all strongly coupled in the very mathematical core of our technology. This provides our users the flexibility to combine all of these seamlessly in one simulation.

Electric motor simulations are a good example of the necessity for this.

With electric motors, you first need to account for the electromagnetic physics: how the motor actually works electromagnetically. Then, as electric motors generate heat, thermal conduction simulations come in. At last, you need to account for the structural integrity as in solid mechanics simulations.

With current solutions, this would mean running different simulations accounting for each component and combining the simulations afterward.

On our platform, this isn’t the case — you can simulate these all in one.

As a product designer, this makes your job easier in defining the simulations but also provides more accurate results. That’s what we call native multiphysics.

Unsurpassed versatility and cost optimizations

As our software is cloud-based, it runs straight in your browser.

Use it anywhere, on any device. Share and collaborate with your team seamlessly. Take advantage of the analytics we provide and other high-level data and reports.

Perhaps you want more freedom with the UI? No problem. With our Cloud-API, you can integrate our simulations straight to your own UI to make the speed and scalability we provide a natural part of your workflow.

In addition to our intuitive UI and the Cloud-API, you have the freedom of scripting yourself.

This provides you the freedom to get those very special cases exactly right. In case of problems, you get support directly from the people creating the algorithms.

The billing is based on how much you simulate, and therefore everything is tailor-made for your company and your simulation needs. We will work together to optimize your billing to be as cost-efficient as possible for your simulation requirements.

This is very convenient if you require simulations only occasionally, as we don’t have any big upfront license payments. Furthermore, it’s also very efficient for running large-scale simulations as you only pay for exactly what you need.

What now?

We are almost ready to take aboard our first beta testers, who will have the opportunity to be the first to get their hands on our product once launched.

The link for the sign-up form for this is right here.

There is a very limited amount of testers we can take at the moment, so please sign up now to secure your spot.

The sign-up does not bind you to anything, and you can opt-out later if you so decide.

We’re looking forward to working with you!
